In keeping with the 2008 National STAR Conference theme of “Step up to the Plate”, attendees will have the opportunity to hear about the experiences of former Major League Baseball player and current Fox Sports Network Analyst for the Colorado Rockies, Jeff Huson, during Wednesday's lunch session. During Jeff’s 12 year Major League career, he played as a utility player for teams such as the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, Anaheim Angels, and Baltimore Orioles. Jeff will speak about the valuable lessons in perseverance, work ethic and competition that he has learned from notable teammates such as Cal Ripken and Nolan Ryan.

Full Biography
In 2006, Jeff Huson embarked on a new career in baseball, serving as analyst for Colorado Rockies coverage on FSN Rocky Mountain and MY 20. Huson will split analyst duties in the booth with veteran analyst George Frazier, calling 55 games from the booth alongside play-by-play man Drew Goodman. His insights to the game will be a major part of the remaining 100 telecasts as he works in studio for pregame and post game reports.
The former University of Wyoming baseball star played 15 years in professional baseball, 12 years as a utility player with the Montreal Expos, Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Anaheim Angels and Chicago Cubs. He most recently served as a roving infield instructor with the Chicago Cubs minor league organization working with major-league prospects from the AAA level to the Dominican Republic League from 2001 to 2005.
A native of Sedona, Arizona, Huson and his family have resided in Parker, Colo., over the past 10 years. He played shortstop at Wyoming in 1984 and ’85 after transferring from Glendale (Ariz.) Community College. In his junior year at UW, Huson played 53 games and batted .392 with 30 RBI. His senior year, Huson played 44 games for the Cowboys and .399 with 35 RBI. He was an All-Western Athletic Conference selection both years.
Huson’s MLB career began in 1985 when the Montreal Expos signed him as an amateur free agent. Over his pro career, Huson played 827 games at a variety of positions – third base, shortstop, second base, first base and in the outfield. He was the ultimate utility player, posting a career batting average of .234 and a fielding average of .969. He played in such notable games such as, Nolan Ryan’s 6th and 7th No-hitters as well as his 3ooth win. Jeff was also on the field the night Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig’s consecutive game streak.
Jeff and his wife, Wendy, are both graduates of the University of Wyoming. They have three children, Lindsay (19), Kyle (16) and Cody (12).
